OUR IMPACT
A Decade of Impact. A Future of Possibilities.
This is our ten-year anniversary and we invite the community to celebrate with us! We have designated the 2025 and 2026 school year as the time to celebrate a decade of impact as we look forward to a future of possibilities for WJCC public schools! The WJCC Schools Foundation was established by the WJCC School Board as an independent non-profit organization in 2015 to partner with the community to “enrich, inspire and innovate” WJCC public schools through public support.
The impact of the WJCC Schools Foundation has grown over the past ten years! We have not only expanded our flagship enterprise – the Innovative Learning Grant program – but we have initiated new projects as well, such as the Teacher Supply Shop and the annual Impact Awards. We are here for our students in extraordinary times too. Because we are local and exist exclusively to serve our public schools, we were the first to provide students with laptops and Wi-Fi access to their teachers during Covid-19.
The WJCC Schools Foundation supports the school division in development of new programs that impact almost every aspect of a student’s education. To date, over $500,000 has been awarded to more than 300 teachers to support and fund their creative approaches to learning. We are the lead sponsor of the annual Impact Awards in partnership with Colonial Williamsburg, and this year as part of the 10-year celebration, we recognized our most outstanding teachers and support employees with over $21,000 in monetary gifts, in part due to a $15,000 private donation. We provided seed money to start the Teacher Supply Shop and continue to donate to the effort so teachers no longer need to dig into their own pockets to provide the intermittent but necessary tools for classroom learning. Our local and liquid position allowed us to give laptops to students during Covid-19 and to partner with the Williamsburg Regional Library to install Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the community so students could continue their education during that extraordinary time.
Please plan to help us celebrate the outstanding success of community support for our public schools. Because of your donations, our community benefits in so many ways.
OUR GRANTS
Our grants are made available to WJCC Public School educators to further supplement the outstanding teaching and learning that goes on in WJCC Public Schools. We fund a wide variety of innovative ideas to encourage a more dynamic education for our students. We have supported all 16 schools in the division in areas including the arts, environment, literacy, math, science, technology, and physical wellness.
All grants are reviewed annually by a panel comprised of local volunteers and board members.
OUR BOARD
Our 20+ member volunteer board of directors and countless volunteers reflect our community by including a wide range of supportive stakeholders. The board works to raise community awareness of the need for funding innovative educational trends through equipment and devices. Our grants are made available to WJCC Public School educators to further supplement the outstanding teaching and learning that goes on in WJCC Public Schools.
