What does a contribution to the Foundation go toward?2023-03-20T20:19:44-04:00
  • Student accomplishments! And many grants result in measurable success!
  • Five-time WJCC SF grant recipient and 2020 Virginia Region II Teacher of the Year, Alissa Smith, whose grant implementations inspired at least one high school student to pursue a degree in education.
  • Kris Van Deusen, 2017 Matthew Whaley Teacher of the Year, whose grant cleverly teaches STEM education to his elementary school students through coding, aviation terminology and the underlying mechanics of drone flying.
  • Using sound equipment funded through WJCC SF, two high school students won honorable mention in the NPR Student Podcast Challenge. Those students are now interested in pursuing a future in journalism.
  • In 2020 when the schools were suddenly shut down because of the pandemic, we partnered with Williamsburg Regional Library to provide hotspots for students learning from home, and in addition, we provided $20,000 to supply laptops for students who needed them.
  • Your donation makes a difference, and your donation goes directly to the classroom because operating expenses are covered by our board of directors.
  • Please see our Impact Report for more examples of how your contribution makes a big impact.

What does your organization do?2021-05-12T20:10:35-04:00

WJCC Public Schools Foundation is dedicated to providing funds for classroom enrichment in support of the 11,000 students in 16 schools in WJCC. We are committed to raising community awareness of the need to support local public schools through funding educators’ innovative ideas through our reviewed grants. We offer a window into the classroom by amplifying the successes of the grants to the community.
